Originally founded by Derrick Booker in 2004 as Capital City Photography, Rattles 2 Rings Photography has restructured the company to better provide our clients with a specialization in wedding, family and child portraiture. This has better enabled us to deliver a greater level of competency in our craft. Derrick Booker, a native of Washington, DC, has been a photo enthusiast for many years. He began his interest in photography as a participant in a summer youth program sponsored by the DC Youth Employment Services. After completing this program, he found his opportunities to gain further experience and a greater understanding of the technical aspects of photography to be limited. He began to inquire with local photographers about the possibility of serving as an assistant to improve his understanding of the craft. He was fortunate to find a renowned photographer that was willing to share his knowledge. Mr. Jim Johnson ,of Jim Johnson Photography became an inspiration, a mentor and a friend. Derrick admired his photographic style and attributes his own growth, in part to the amazing mentorship of Mr. Johnson.
Derrick continues his growth in the field of photography and development of his artistic talents. He is a recent graduate of the Professional Photographer's Program at The Washington School of Photography, located in Bethesda, Maryland. Derrick continues to attend classes, lectures, conferences and workshops to ensure that he provides the highest level of competence for his chosen craft. He strives to capture images that become lasting memories for his clients and photographic artistry for future generations.
